ABOUT ALICE

Artist, tattooist & lifelong creator.

I'm Alice, a Suffolk-based tattoo artist and self-taught illustrator with a lifelong fascination with the weird and wonderful, inspired by wildlife, mythology, fantasy and horror.

My practice moves between tattooing, drawing, painting and independent creative projects, with each medium feeding naturally into the next.

MY CREATIVE JOURNEY

From drawing to tattooing

I'm a tattoo artist and self-taught illustrator based in Suffolk, drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil and tattooing professionally since 2019. My creative path hasn’t been traditional — I didn’t go through formal art education, but art has always been a passionate hobby for me. In 2019, while beginning my MA in Games Development, I also stepped into my dream career as a tattoo artist.

I specialise in a black and grey illustrative and fine line work, combining technical precision and expressive detail. Although I frequently use digital illustration in my tattoo work, I am still deeply passionate about keeping traditional methods alive - the majority of my work is hand drawn with pencil and ink on paper.

I am proud to be a part of Skinwear Tattoo Studio in Ipswich, a professional, friendly and down-to-earth space where clients feel welcome and at ease.

INSPIRATION

The weird & wonderful

Nature is a constant source of inspiration in my work. Wildlife, plants, woodland and the changing seasons sit alongside a lifelong love of mythology, folklore, fantasy, science fiction and darker storytelling.

I'm especially interested in the point where the familiar begins to feel imagined — taking recognisable forms from the natural world and allowing them to become atmospheric, unusual or otherworldly.

That fascination has gradually shaped not only the artwork I make, but the wider creative world around it, including Wildlore Art Club: my monthly project exploring myth, flora and fauna through the seasons.

BEYOND THE STUDIO

What makes me happy

When I'm not working, I'm usually making something. I love trying different crafts and creative processes, crochet and cross stitching being two on my favourites. I like to escape to the woods and open countryside — walks in nature keep me grounded and fuels my imagination, while I contemplate the weird and wonderful world we live in. I share my world with my partner and two mischievous cats who are equal parts gremlin and comfort. I’m also a lover of all things imaginative and otherworldly, from fantasy epics and sci-fi adventures, to dark horror films and binge-worthy series. I also enjoy horse riding, riding my motorbike, gardening and relaxing with a pint of real ale in a traditional British pub!
